Do you shop online? (And they say there are no stupid questions.) If you could have a portion of every purchase you make go to support your favorite charity, ministry, or your kid’s school, would you do it? What if it cost you nothing and the whole thing could be set up in under a minute?
That is exactly what the people at www.GoodShop.com have done. They have partnered with pretty much every online retailer – including Amazon, BestBuy, Target, ToysRUs and Expedia to name a few.
Bottom Line: The online retailers donate anywhere from 1-20% of every purchase to the non-profit of your choice.
You only have to set it up once and the whole process takes less than a minute (not kidding). I have put together this screencast showing you how to do it, as well as explaining a few other benefits and features (that’s why the screencast is longer than a minute ).
NOTE: If you’re a “reader” instead of a “watcher” I’ve put the step-by-step below the screencast.
Step 1: Go to www.GoodShop.com and click “Get Started.”
Step 2: Pick the charity, school, or ministry of your choice. If you don’t have a favorite, you can click here to donate to That You May Know Ministries (my non-profit).
Step 3: Enter the name of your favorite online store in the GoodShop search bar. (It will be on their list. Even some really obscure ones are in there.)
Step 4: Click the name of the online store and shop as you normally would. You’ll be taken to the regular site – not an affiliate site with higher prices or different selection.
NOTE: The next time you go to GoodShop, you’ll only do Steps 3 and 4. You can even automate that, but adding the GoodShop-to-go plugin into your browser. Then, whenever you visit a participating merchant, a small, yellow bar will drop down letting you know the percentage being donated to the non-profit you’ve selected. (Unfortunately, Amazon is one of the few merchant that won’t automatically recognize the plugin. To use Amazon, you just have to go to GoodShop first, and click through to Amazon.)
Other cool ways to raise money from this company:
- GoodSearch – This is a regular search engine (powered by YahooSearch) that donates $.01 for every search you do.
- GoodSwipe – Link a credit card and a donation will be be made when you go to the movies, restaurants, and a whole host of stores.
- GoodSurveys – Some people like to share their opinions. If that’s you, why not have someone make a donation at the same time?
