Redeeming Social Media

Technology/Social Media / Trends //

One of the things I love about the Gathering is the fact that the peoplewho manage it do a great job integrating social media in ways that create great engagement. That’s why I’m amped about a great idea that Matt Guevara put out to the world recently. I’l let him explain it:

“What if, even in a small way, we could shift the landscape and instead of an endless stream of selfies, food updates, memes, famous quotes, or Candy Crush invites we created something new?  What if instead of copying and pasting something we’ve seen online, we captured what God is showing us right now? What if we took on the challenge to point creatively to God’s greatness?

So here’s a challenge that I think you can tackle. Every Thursday in February I want you to join what I hope is hundreds of #kidmin leaders in redeeming social media by taking a moment to consider this question: what does God see? Be inspired to capture and post a picture that answers the question.  You can post to whatever social media channel you prefer.  Alongside the team behind the Tru Gathering this year, we all want to see what God reveals, so make sure you post your picture #dcctg14.”
I’ll be taking part in February, along with lots of other great people. I hope you do too, I can’t wait to see how God sees what’s happening in your life.
